Both these laptop have certain merits and demerits to their own extend, MacBook Air is economical, well suited for small everyday tasks such as writing, editing, etc, but has a disadvantages when it comes to long hours of work.
If you care about performance or wish to upgrade your laptop in future, go for the robust MacBook Pro, it is worth it, it has a better volume over all, and you get a brighter screen with better colour accuracy, with runs for long hours of work with cooler temperature.
